Rus Sherman
Senior Architect

Rus Sherman has over 40 years of design and architectural experience working for some of the most renowned architectural services firms in the Bay Area including Arquitectonica International, HHPJ and Fougeron Architecture. For the past 18 years he has worked with WRNS STUDIO leading large scale complex office and lab development. He became a Partner at WRNS STUDIO in 2016. In addition to his work in private development, Rus led several of the firm’s non-profit sector projects which included the offices for Emerson Collective in East Palo Alto and the master planning of CuriOddesy’s new campus in San Mateo.
Rus is a strong believer in the collaborative nature of the design process: that the Owner, Contractor and Design Team must work together along with the AHJ (authority having jurisdiction) to bring projects to their successful completion, while meeting stated design, budget and schedule goals. He is known for being able to solve complex entitlement and permitting issues, providing innovative code analysis and technical solutions to solve problems as they arise.
Rus has worked with Scott Giddens of SOHSV on several high profile projects in the South Bay. Retired since December 2023, he jumped at the chance to join the SOHSV team and to lend his expertise in trying to help solve one of the Bay Area’s most pressing social issues…providing safe, dignified and secure permanent housing for our homeless population.
