Real life stories: How a haircut is more than a haircut

The other day, a gentleman stopped by for one of our Haircuts of Hope events before heading to an apartment interview.

After his haircut, volunteers from The United Effort took Ron to meet a potential landlord. They later shared that his fresh haircut made a noticeable difference—boosting his confidence and leaving a strong impression. Wei and Charlie believe Ron has a great chance at securing the apartment (we’ll share an update soon!).

Jorge, another Haircuts of Hope guest at Hope’s Corner, told us how much it matters to him too. After getting a Seeds of Hope haircut, he notices people treat him differently—no longer crossing the street to avoid him. For him, that’s a big deal.

As we work toward building a community of homes like Austin’s Community First Village, we’re so pleased to get to know our homeless neighbors and make a positive difference in their daily lives.  Who knows, maybe one day, some will call our future community their home.

Many thanks to all our contributors - financial and volunteer - who help with this effort.

Almost 1,500 free haircuts, a $30,000 value, and we're just starting!
